Methven is on the western edge of the Canterbury Plains; this small town is the perfect place to say when enjoying a Mt Hutt Ski package. There is ski bus transport from Christchurch or Methven, or you can drive yourself up the mountain. Select from our range of packages including a Mt Hutt ski pass.
With wide open terrain, four freestyle terrain parks for all abilities, and 365 skiable hectares, there will never be a dull moment! Mt Hutt boasts an average snowfall of 4 metres, enticing skiers and snowboarders from all over the world to explore its superb off-piste terrain and wide groomed tracks.
Mt Hutt Restaurants
Mt Hutt offers three dining options.
SIXTEEN10 ESPRESSO BAR Open from 8.30am – 4pm. Healthy and fast options, barista made coffee, paninis snacks, chops, hot chocolates with marshmallows, plus licences facilities.
SKY HIGH CAFE Open 9am – 3pm. A big day in the sun needs big refreshment. Grab breakfast, get a coffee fix, a hearty lunch at half time and a sundowner with your feet up.
OPUKE KAI It’s apres ski, Canterbury style. Choose from the roaring fire or sunbathed deck. Enjoy an early for an epic breakfast with a view or rest up with a milled wine before sending it from to the base. Opuke Kai offers the only on-mountain a la carte experience in Canterbury.
Mt Hutt Childcare & Lessons
Mt Hutt offer a range of kids programs for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. Ranging from first timers to competitive skills development coaching., which means you will be able to enjoy your time skiing knowing your children are in safe hands, with a family package deal.
Mt Hutt ski school caters for children 4 – 15 years. With adult groups starting from 16 years+.
The full day group lessons are designed to provide a fun and progressive coaching environment for the whole family to get the most out of your time on the slopes. A great way to meet others with similar goals, progress your skills at a fast rate and have a great day on the hill.
Mt Hutt have coaching to progress skiers and snowboarders of all ability levels including high performance. In your small size group lessons, you’ll be split into groups of similar ability and terrain confidence. Perfect for the ultimate New Zealand family ski holiday!
Group lesson minimum age requirements: Ski – 4 years+, Snowboard – 7 years+.
Full day group lessons begin in 10am with a 1-hour break between lessons finishing at 3.30pm.
Private Lessons at Mt Hutt Ski Field
Full Day Private Coaching: All day 9am-3.30pm. 1-6 people. Kids from 3 years through to the most seasoned Adults. For all levels of skier or snowboarders. Skip the lift lines, experience more fun, more runs and more progress.
Mt Hutt Ski Hire / Rental Equipment
Mt Hutt offers a large range of top-brand ski hire, with skis, poles, boots, and snowboards you will be ready to shred! Daily ski and snowboard rental equipment is available in two configurations – Recreational and Performance.
RECREATIONAL: Standard equipment is perfect to aid first-timers and novices when learning to ski and ride.
PERFORMANCE: The latest ski and snowboard equipment from some of the industry’s top brands. Designed for intermediate to expert skiers and snowboarders.
Pick Up: On-Mountain only. Must be returned same day or stored on mountain for consecutive day use.
FREE overnight storage when you rent equipment for consecutive days.
The Mt Hutt Snow Shop has a range of affordable skiing and snowboarding essentials for everyone. Update your ski gear or replace that missing glove. The retail shop at Mt Hutt stocks the latest in ski gear to ensure you can ski or ride in comfort and style.
Car Parking and Transport Mt Hutt
Mt Hutt has free car parking right outside the base facilities at the bottom of the lifts. When the top car park is full, the friendly team will direct you into one of the overflow car parks, which are serviced regularly by a free ski shuttle service.
Don’t want to worry about a full car park or the road conditions? The daily Mt Hutt bus service provided by Methven Travel departs from most major accommodation providers in Methven with a pick-up scheduled service to and from Mt Hutt Ski Area. Travelling from Christchurch, Snowman Shuttles provide daily transport services between Christchurch and Methven.
