Driving time Queenstown to Wanaka 70 km / 1 hour
When you’ve finished skiing in Queenstown, drive over the stunning Crown Range to Wanaka along New Zealand’s highest state highway. Mountains frame the road, snow dusting their slopes, and there are photo stops aplenty.
When you arrive in the vibrant, laid-back ski town of Wanaka, check in to your accommodation and get settled in. You can venture downtown to check out the lake and the local shops, or relax in your accommodation while gearing up for your next New Zealand snow holiday adventures.

Cardrona is a relaxed and friendly ski area that has been entertaining skiers and snowboarders for 35 years. Explore it all – wide open beginner trails, pristine groomers, fun free-ride terrain, and world class parks and pipes.
Treble Cone is the largest ski field in the Queenstown Lakes District, providing access to 550ha of rideable terrain. You’ll find something for all abilities. Covering a leg-burning 700m of vertical, Treble Cone is recognised for its long runs and uncrowded piste and off-piste trails.

Day two of your 2-Day Wanaka Ski Pass includes:
It is your last chance to push those ski legs a little harder! Enjoy your last day at Cardrona Alpine Resort or Treble Cone.
You might like to enjoy a drink after your final day on the snow this evening. From lakefront bars with incredible views, through to cosy venues with roaring open fires, classic Kiwi pubs or lounge bars serving award-winning cocktails, you are definitely spoilt for choice.
On your day off, indulge in the rest and recovery options Wanaka offers. Take a long, lazy lunch beside the lake, visit Puzzling World or the National Toy and Transport Museum, or take a walk along one of the stunning tracks. For a more sophisticated option, try a wine tasting and enjoy the sweeping views from Rippon Winery.
Driving time Wanaka to Franz Josef 285 km / 4 hours
With an abundance of short walks and scenic stops on the Haast Pass Highway, your journey to Franz Josef will be filled with exploration. As you head further north towards New Zealand’s most famous glaciers, you will wind through lush rainforest and past stunning coastal vistas.
A scenic helicopter flight is available as an add-on, where you will glide above Westland National Park for stunning views of the Southern Alps before landing in the snow.

Train travel Greymouth to Christchurch 223 km / 138 miles, 4.5 hours
Take the scenic drive north to Greymouth, where you will drop off your rental car and climb aboard the TranzAlpine train for the ‘trip of a lifetime.’ You will cut through the majestic Southern Alps, with thrilling vistas over deep gorges and brilliant rivers, before passing into the gentle farmlands of the Canterbury plains.
