Day 1 Wanaka

Driving time Queenstown to Wanaka 70km / 1 hour

Arrive in Queenstown, the entry point to the Southern Lakes ski region.

Collect your rental car from Queenstown Airport, then drive over the stunning Crown Range along New Zealand’s highest state highway. Mountains frame the road, snow dusting their slopes, and there are photo stops aplenty.

When you arrive in the vibrant, laid-back ski town of Wanaka, check in to your accommodation and get settled in. You can venture downtown to check out the lake and the local shops, or relax in your accommodation while gearing up for your ski adventures.

Day 2 Wanaka

Driving time Wanaka to Cardrona Alpine Resort 34 km / 45 minutes

Breathe in the fresh mountain air; it’s time to learn how to ski or snowboard at Cardrona Alpine Resort.

Day one of your 4-Day Learn to Ski or Snowboard Package includes:

• Full-Mountain Lift Pass at Cardrona Alpine Resort
• 2 Lessons: 10.30 am – 13.00 pm and 13.45 pm – 3.45 pm
• Rental Equipment: skis, boots, and poles or snowboard and boots

* Ski Kindy at Cardrona offers ski lessons for under 5’s, plus childcare in fully licensed Early Childhood Centres. The Ski Kindy provides an educational programme along with a ski experience led by specialist instructors in a dedicated children’s area. The under-5 price includes full day childcare only (8.30am – 4pm), however a lesson and rentals can be added.

Day 3 Wanaka

Day two of your 4-Day Learn to Ski or Snowboard Package includes:

• Full-Mountain Lift Pass at Cardrona Alpine Resort
• 2 Lessons: 10.20 am – 12.20 pm and 2.00 pm – 4.00 pm
• Rental Equipment: skis, boots, and poles or snowboard and boots

Test your new skills — collect your rental gear from the on-mountain rental shop and practice until your lesson starts.

Day 4 Wanaka

Day three of your 4-Day Learn to Ski or Snowboard Package includes:

• Full-Mountain Lift Pass at Cardrona Alpine Resort
• 2 Lessons: 10.20 am – 12.20 pm and 2.00 pm – 4.00 pm
• Rental Equipment: skis, boots, and poles or snowboard and boots

Now that you’re starting to get the hang of it, explore the mountain on your afternoon off and develop your skills.

Day 5 Wanaka

Relax and explore Wanaka – you may want to visit Puzzling World, Wanaka’s illusional attraction, or the National Toy and Transport Museum. Other options include strolling along one of Wanaka’s stunning walking tracks, relaxing on the lake’s edge or browsing through Wanaka’s boutique shops.

Wanaka Lavender Farm is just a few minutes from Wanaka, where you can experience 20 acres of beautiful lavender fields, farm animals & display gardens. Enjoy a walk through the flowers, play a garden game, unwind over a cup of herbal tea & indulge in lavender ice-creams. Sample Lakes Honey and the many Wanaka Lavender Farm products that are produced on site.

You could also catch a film at Cinema Paradiso, Wanaka’s quirky local theatre.

Day 6 Wanaka

Day four of your 4-Day Learn to Ski or Snowboard Package includes:

Freedom! You are now equipped with a range of skiing or snowboard skills. Today is yours to explore the mountain and test your skills on the large variety of terrain available.

Day 7 Wanaka

Enjoy a free day of exploring the delights of Wanaka!

Test out your fishing skills at “Hook”, Wanaka’s very unique interactive Lake to Plate dining experience. Catch a Chinook salmon from the scenic spring-fed fishing lakes and then relax as the team prepares it for you. No experience is necessary and fishing equipment can be hired on the day.

Photograph ‘That Wanaka Tree’. Wanaka has no shortage of Instagrammable spots but the most well-known has to be’ That Wanaka Tree’ which sits alone on the waters of Lake Wanaka. You’ll find ‘That Wanaka Tree’ walking south along the shores of Lake Wanaka.

Day 8 Depart Queenstown

Driving time Wanaka to Queenstown 69 km, 1.5 hours

Set off along the Cardrona Valley Road, be sure to stop at the historic Cardrona Hotel and the Cardrona Distillery. Drive over the beautiful Crown Range, one of New Zealand’s highest alpine roads, and admire the fantastic views along the way before your arrival into Queenstown.

Drop your rental car off at Queenstown Airport and depart Queenstown.
