The Cardrona Ski Kindy is a fully-licensed early childhood education facility with highly experienced & qualified teachers open 8.30am until 4pm. The centre caters for children aged 3months up until their 5th birthday, so whether you want your children to experience snow & learn to ski, or are after somewhere snug & comfy for them to hang while you hit the slopes, we have the perfect place for your family! Ask for childcare under questions.
Kids Ski Programmes are available from 10am until 4pm (Cardrona & Treble Cone) for children and youths aged 5-17 years. Kids Ski Programmes offer everything your kids need: lift passes, ski or snowboard hire and one or two daily lessons – ask for ‘Kids Ski Programmes’ under questions.
Driving time Queenstown to Wanaka 70km / 1 hour
Arrive in Queenstown, the entry point to the Southern Lakes ski region.
Collect your rental car from Queenstown Airport, then drive over the stunning Crown Range along New Zealand’s highest state highway. Mountains frame the road, snow dusting their slopes, and there are photo stops aplenty.
When you arrive in the vibrant, laid-back ski town of Wanaka, check in to your accommodation and get settled in. You can venture downtown to check out the lake and the local shops, or relax in your accommodation while gearing up for your family ski adventures.

Day one of your 5-Day Wanaka Ski Pass includes:
Cardrona is a relaxed and friendly ski area that has been entertaining skiers and snowboarders for 35 years. Explore it all – wide open beginner trails, pristine groomers, fun free-ride terrain, and world class parks and pipes.
Treble Cone is the largest ski field in the Queenstown Lakes District, providing access to 550ha of rideable terrain. You’ll find something for all abilities. Covering a leg-burning 700m of vertical, Treble Cone is recognised for its long runs and uncrowded piste and off-piste trails.
NOTE:
**Your 5-Day Wanaka Ski Pass is valid for both Cardrona Alpine Resort and Treble Cone. Your ski days do NOT have to be consecutive. The schedule outlined here is just an example of how you can plan your stay.**
Day two of your 5-Day Wanaka Ski Pass includes:
Test your skills at Cardrona Alpine Resort or Treble Cone today. If you would like to enjoy some lunch up the mountain this afternoon, both Cardrona and Treble Cone offer a range of cafés and restaurants that will keep your energy levels up!
In the evening you have the chance to catch a film at Cinema Paradiso, Wanaka’s quirky local theatre (hint: the homemade cookies and ice cream at half time are delicious).
Day three of your 5-Day Wanaka Ski Pass includes:
Really explore the mountain today, ticking off trails as you venture around your favourite runs.
This evening you may like to visit REALM, New Zealand’s largest and most advanced Virtual Reality experience. Enjoy one of the various cutting-edge experiences on an Infinity Platform. At REALM, you’re not just watching, – you’re immersed!
On your day off, indulge in the rest and recovery options Wanaka offers. Take a long, lazy lunch beside the lake, visit Puzzling World or the National Toy and Transport Museum, or take a walk along one of the stunning tracks. For a bit of fun, spend the day at Crossfire, which has clay bird shooting, archery ranges, and a mini putt course.

Enjoy another day at Cardrona Alpine Resort or Treble Cone, and show off your new skills!
This afternoon you might like to go for a leisurely stroll along beautiful Lake Wanaka; make sure to get a photograph of the world-famous Wanaka Tree. Relax and unwind in your accommodation this evening.
Day five of your 5-Day Wanaka Ski Pass includes:
It is your last chance to push those ski legs a little harder! Enjoy your last day at Cardrona Alpine Resort or Treble Cone.
You might like to enjoy a drink after your final day on the snow this evening. From lakefront bars with incredible views, through to cosy venues with roaring open fires, classic Kiwi pubs or lounge bars serving award-winning cocktails you are definitely spoilt for choice.
Enjoy a relaxing day exploring Wanaka and beyond. You may wish to take a 20 minute drive to neighbouring Lake Hawea for lunch.
Recover and rejuvenate!
Driving time Wanaka to Queenstown 70km / 1 hour
Spend today taking a look around the stunning lakeside town. Any family activity in Queenstown can be added to your ski package to finish your holiday on a high–suggestions include the Shotover Jet, night skiing at Coronet Peak, 4WD safaris to Middle-Earth, and lake cruises.
To recharge, add a family lunch or dinner at Walter Peak Station or at the top of Skyline Gondola (your kids will have a great time on the hilltop luge!).
