Childcare & Lessons
If you want to plan a family ski trip, you don’t have to look farther than The Remarkables. With a huge range of childcare options, great kids’ ski and snowboard lesson packages, and extensive facilities, this ski field is perfect for families. Beginners can test themselves with a learn to ski package in two large learners’ areas with three conveyor lifts and gentle slopes before moving to more advanced terrain.
The Remarkables offers a ski school catering for children up to 4 – 15 years.
The full day group lessons are designed to provide a fun and progressive coaching environment for the whole family to get the most out of your time on the slopes. The Remarkables have some of the world’s best instructors who will focus on building your skills and using terrain to explore, adventure and continue growing your confidence on more challenging terrain!
The Remarkables have coaching to progress skiers and snowboarders of all ability levels including high performance.
In your small size group lessons, you’ll be split into groups of similar ability and terrain confidence. Perfect for the ultimate New Zealand family ski holiday!
Group lesson minimum age requirements: Ski – 4 years+, Snowboard – 7 years+.
Full day group lessons begin in 10am with a 1-hour break between lessons finishing at 3.30pm.
Private Lessons at The Remarkables Ski Field
Full Day Private Coaching: All day 9am-3.30pm. 1-6 people. Kids from 3 years through to the most seasoned Adults. For all levels of skier or snowboarders. Skip the lift lines, experience more fun, more runs and more progress.
Rental Equipment
The Remarkables offers a large range of top-brand ski hire, with skis, poles, boots, and snowboards you will be ready to shred! Daily ski and snowboard rental equipment is available in two configurations – Recreational and Performance.
RECREATIONAL: Standard equipment is perfect to aid first-timers and novices when learning to ski and ride. Pick Up: On Mountain or at the NZSki & Snowbiz store located on 9 Duke Street in central Queenstown.
PERFORMANCE: The latest ski and snowboard equipment from some of the industry’s top brands. Avoid the cost and inconvenience of carrying your own ski equipment on the plane. Designed for intermediate to expert skiers and snowboarders. This is top-end product, from the most respected brands in the industry, that has been matched to individual mountain terrain and conditions by equipment experts. Pick Up: On-Mountain only. Must be returned same day or stored on mountain for consecutive day use.

Restaurants & Cafes at The Remarkables Queenstown
There are three cafes and restaurants in the new base building.
Rastusburn Coffee Bar offers treats, snacks and slices along with your espresso fix. Selection of beer and wine.
The Remarkables Cafe provides a selection of bakery items, fish and chips, hot snacks and healthy options like gourmet rolls, salads and sushi.
The Remarkables Restaurant delivers gourmet sandwiches and burgers, hearty mountain meals, warm soups, curries, and salads. Take a well-deserved rest at The Remarkables Restaurant .
The Ice Bar take a break on the side of the piste at the epic Ice Bar! With a range of snacks and beverages, chill out while you warm up with a hot dog or miller wine and enjoy the view!
The Remarkables ‘Snoshop’ has a range of affordable skiing and snowboarding essentials for everyone. With top brands and many other supplies on offer, you should plan some time for a shopping excursion.
Car Parking and Shuttles at The Remarkables Ski Area
The Remarkables is a scenic 24km drive away from downtown Queenstown. Are you up for the drive? The mountain offers several car parking areas to choose from, including a top car park that is within walking distance of the base facilities. If you are parked a bit farther away, you can hop on the shuttle bus service. This shuttle runs continuously throughout the day between the designated pickup areas and the drop-off area at the base building.
Catch a ride on The Remarkables Ski Bus. Departing from central Queenstown on Duke Street from 7.30am until 9am. The Ski Bus will stop at most main bus stops on the way to The Remarkables.
After 9am, the Ski Bus service will depart from Frankton Golf Course Bus Stop (opposite the Frankton Bus Hub), stopping at 33-35 Kawarau Road/Humphrey St and the Remarkables Park and Ride until 11am.
All passengers will be required to reserve a departure timeslot, pickup location, and what mountain they are going to when purchasing a Ski Bus pass. Capacity is limited and will sell out over peak periods. Let your ski consultant take care of the details.
